Old Software on a new Macintosh
If you have purchased an new computer, particularly a new Macintosh, you
will have noticed that there have been some changes to your old familiar
macintosh. There is no longer a floppy drive and all the ports have condensed
into one or two called USB ports.
If you have very old software that came on floppy diskettes and have the
older type keys (dongles) called EVE3, you still have some options to get
your old KHA programs on to your new computer, but it will require some work,
and as with all old software meeting new hard ware, there may be one or two
glitches.
Your choices are....
2. Attach cross over cables (if your old computer has the technology) and with the help of a computer person get your new computer to "see" your old computer's hard drive and drag your KHA folders to the new computer via the cables.
3. Attach a Zip drive or external harddrive and copy your KHA folders onto it and then attache the external device to your new computer and drag the folders over (you may also need to bring over some extensions from your extensions folder)4. Ports and Dongles(keys). Your old keys were ADB, the new ports are USB. You can purchase an ADB/USB adaptor. We recommend the iMate adaptor from Griffin technologies ( www.griffintechnologies.com). You will need to go to there website and download an iMate driver.
5. OS X. The iMate driver should be downloaded and installed in the OS 9 system of your computer if you have both OS X and OS 9 as MacRep &ReferenceWorks
are as yet not native to OS X, but will be very soon.
Any questions about doing this please don't hesitate to contact us at KHA tech.
