MacRepertory 6 and ReferenceWorks 3 on Windows Vista or Macitosh Leopard

If you are attempting to install older MR 6 & RW 3 to a computer with Operating systems Vista or Mac OS X Leopard please read the note below fully........

I have helped customers load MR 6 & RW 3 a couple of times on these systems but can not guarantee they will function correctly. Manufacturer updates may cause them to stop working altogether (as happened with our MR 5 when XP came out).

We only recommend MR 8 & RW 4G running on Vista or Leopard (X.5) as they are designed to put files in the locations where Microsoft and Apple now recommend files and folders to be installed. But please go ahead and install as normal and keep us posted of any problems that arise, if any.

(Note: as Leopard does NOT support the classic environment you will lose the ability to index changed repertories and to view Authors and remedies as both these features require classic 9 in these older versions- MR 7 has them built into the program)

Install as per the previous instructions.

Windows Users only

All you need to remember is when installing your older MR 6 & RW 3 disks DO NOT allow the install of the HARDLOCK or SENTINEL drivers - they will fail. You must download and install the latest XP/Vista drivers for Hardlock (Hlvdd) and Sentinel form our website (see note below).

Install the CD's as normal (on some Vista computers the auto run fails - again, these CD's are NOT designed for Vista and the technology used to create them is old compared to what Vista like- just go to My Computer and RIGHT click your Disk drive and select OPEN).

Cancel the install of the Hardlock and Sentinel drivers, but allow the disk to finish, then download and Install the newer drivers.  For file locations see here.

Macintosh Users: There are no special drivers needed for Leopard- just install as per your instructions  that came with your disks. Please note currently you will not be able to keyless on MacBook pros due to a hardware conflict. Our programmers are working with macintosh on this and an announcement will be made.

Latest News: This is fixed go here to download the necessary file (You may need to log on first- information at bottom of email)

Download and installing XP/Vista Drivers

Here is the information needed to download and install the 2 files that caused your error. The reason there was an error may be you are installing an older application on a new operating system with XP or a newer Vista.

Please read all this note BEFORE commencing any downloads.

Please download both files (below) to your DESKTOP they are easier to find there.

Then unzip and Install both files.

Driver: Name on KHA website:Downloads as: Installs as (after unzipping)

Hardlock Hlvdd file (hardlock driver)HLDRV32.zipHldrv32.exe

Sentinel Sentinel Driversentinel-730.zipSentinel protection Installer 730.exe

After running the HLDRV32.exe install program, it's files, HLVDD.DLL, etc must be present in the C:\Windows\System32 folder for the key to be acknowledged.

If necessary please reinstall the application CD BUT DO NOT allow the installation of the Hardlock or Sentinel drivers. Please CANCEL those parts of the install, then proceed with the rest of the installation as other files are required from the CD.

Ensure the USB key is NOT attached to the computer when installing the Sentinel Driver (if you have one)
